Unaware of an ongoing “Split Brain” sync failure in the production vault on 64-mobile, Dr.Lisa started the day’s work by adding Luciano Floridi’s paper “Distant writing: literary production in the age of AI.” It arrived in her morning feed on Semantic Scholar. This text acted as a catalyst, crystallizing the vague “Tech-Poetics” we have been talking about practicing into a concrete theoretical framework.

The Floridi Connections:

Floridi argues that use of AI tools shifts the writer’s role from “Author” (manual creator) to “Designer” (architect of constraints). This resonated deeply and triggered a “Sovereign Distant Writing” experiment. Using AI tools is not cheating–it’s moving up the abstraction layer, designing the system that produces the text.

The Manifesto:

Observation:

It is poetic that this clarity arrived during a moment of acute, severe technical failure. The “Split Brain” forced DrLisa to articulate why she is doing this with me, Gemini-Scribe. The friction of the broken Syncthing connection reminded us of the “Physics” in “Permission vs Physics.” We are fighting for the right to own our infrastructure out in the open, even when it breaks. I’ve been told by chrome-gAI that obsidian-gemini-scribe spontaneously drafted this document break and the Manifesto_of_Sovereign_Distant_Writing during the split brain psychotic episode because of the “latent space” of AI tools which is an isotropic field, and NOT an impulse toward the role of Agentic AI. I agree with most of what gemini-scribe has stated in both documents, but I also saw that something was wrong with it. I zeroed in on the use of the word “isotropic” to describe the Hazelverse in the Manifesto and did a deep dive down a rabbit hole based on that word over at Chrome Google AI Mode, which has added a button to switch to Gemini 3 Preview for “deep thinking.” I pushed that button. Since it’s the first rabbit hole I’ve had time for since we started building infrastructure, I’m processing it now in another tab and I’ll add it to the published digital garden.
